Music Composition

The ability to take the musical ideas in your head and manifest them onto a physical medium is a concept that appeals to many musicians. We're proud to be able to be one of the few places in Okinawa that offers classes for a student to learn this skill.

This course is designed to be taken alongside your study of a musical instrument. The price listed is the standalone price of the course and will be less when supplemented with another. See our Tuition Adjustments page for more details on tuition reduction for taking multiple courses.

Students will learn how to generate, organize, and materialize musical ideas for a wide variety of instruments; study music theory to effectively communicate with other composers; and work with industry standard notation software, with the chance for real musicians to perform their scores.

FAQ

Each month we have four lessons, one lesson each week.

Hopefully! Having other students perform your music is not the only reward for your hard work; you gain valuable feedback on how a real musician interprets what you write as well.

It depends on your skill level as a student. If you are sufficiently advanced at an instrument or study at another school, a standalone course is very possible. Send us a message explaining your situation and we'll get back to you promptly.

While there is a large overlap between the two courses, this one focuses primarily on writing music for real instruments rather than programming music via virtual ones.
